FOLLOW
Not everything dangerous looks dangerous.
A traveller once asked an old man:
“How will I recognise evil?”
The old man smiled.
“You won’t.
If you could, it would never succeed.”
Follow begins with that unsettling thought.
A solitary figure waits beside a path disappearing into the mountains. He carries no weapon. He makes no threat. There is nothing dramatic in his presence. If anything, he might be mistaken for someone who knows the way.
And perhaps that is precisely the point.
Only on looking closer does something beneath the hood begin to feel wrong. An eye. A glimpse of something that does not quite belong. But by the time we think to question who we have been following, the path behind us may already be very far away.
Created for those drawn to art with a darker psychological edge — pieces that reveal themselves slowly and leave the viewer with a question rather than an answer.
Because perhaps the most dangerous thing about evil is not that we fail to recognise it.
It is that, at first, it can give us every reason to follow.
PRODUCT DETAILS
A digital artwork by Surreal Mindscapes from the Fine Art Edition, inspired by mixed-media techniques and combining atmospheric figurative realism, graphite-inspired drawing and expressive painterly texture.
The composition is built around ambiguity and gradual discovery. A heavily textured hooded figure occupies the foreground while the mountain path dissolves progressively into mist, pale graphite-inspired marks and unfinished space. Large, broken painterly masses give the cloak and surrounding terrain a tactile visual weight, while the distant landscape remains quieter and less resolved. The barely revealed detail beneath the hood is deliberately understated, intended to be discovered rather than immediately announced.
Printed as a museum-quality Giclée Fine Art print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm — a beautifully textured, heavyweight archival paper chosen to complement the artwork’s graphite detail, atmospheric tonal transitions and painterly character.
