ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

GROWN ENOUGH

Grown Enough is about something that often gets left out when we talk about lasting love: desire does not have to disappear for a relationship to become deep, familiar and safe.

There is a particular kind of intimacy that comes from knowing someone for a long time. You know their moods, their habits, the way they reach for you without thinking. There is less guessing, less pretending — and perhaps, eventually, less embarrassment about simply admitting that being close still feels good.

This piece treats physical affection as a natural part of a loving relationship rather than something separate from tenderness. Touch can be comforting and exciting. Familiar and still wanted. There is no contradiction in that.

And maybe getting older brings a certain freedom with it.

You know by now that love is built from far more than attraction. You have probably seen one another tired, worried, distracted, ill, grumpy and wearing things neither of you would have chosen for a first date. And yet a hand can still find a familiar place, someone moves a little closer, and suddenly that part of the relationship is there too.

There is something rather lovely about not needing to make it more complicated than that.

Visually, Grown Enough is deliberately quiet. The words sit within warm ivory space surrounded by tactile painterly texture, with only a few understated marks interrupting the surface. The restraint keeps the intimacy in the writing rather than illustrating it.

Part of the Words to Keep collection, Grown Enough is for couples who have been together long enough to know that tenderness, familiarity and desire were never competing versions of love.

Sometimes they are simply different ways of saying the same thing.

PRODUCT DETAILS

A digital Fine Art Poetry Print by Surreal Mindscapes, created for the Words to Keep collection — a series centred on the thoughts, relationships and experiences we sometimes understand differently as life moves on.

Created through a mixed-media-inspired approach combining original poetry, refined typography, handwritten detail and expressive painterly surface texture within one restrained Fine Art composition.

Printed as a museum-quality Giclée Fine Art print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm — a beautifully textured, heavyweight archival paper chosen to complement the softness of the typography and the tactile character of the artwork.

COLOURWAY

This piece is created in a soft, understated palette of warm ivory, natural cream, pale stone, soft taupe and delicate graphite grey, with tiny touches of muted warm gold.

The almost monochromatic colourway keeps the words at the centre of the piece, while broad areas of painterly texture around the edges give the otherwise minimal composition warmth, depth and physical presence.

AVAILABLE FORMATS

STUDIO — 21 × 30 cm

A smaller, intimate format with a clean-cut edge. The typography and spacing are carefully adjusted to preserve the rhythm and balance of the original composition.

SIGNATURE — 30 × 40 cm

The artwork at its intended scale. The appearance of a traditional deckled (torn) paper edge is visually reproduced within the artwork itself, while the physical print is clean-cut to fit neatly into a standard 30 × 40 cm frame.

Small differences in typography, spacing or placement may appear between formats, as each version is composed specifically for its proportions.

The visible paper texture, handwritten elements, softly irregular edges, broad painterly marks and subtle tonal variations are intentional parts of the artwork.

COMPANION ARTWORK

A coordinating companion artwork is available separately from the Fine Art Edition collection.

Created around the same idea of closeness, touch and desire within a familiar relationship, the artwork offers a visual counterpart to Grown Enough without illustrating the poem literally.

The two pieces can be displayed individually or together as a coordinated pair — one expressed through words, the other through gesture and movement.

PERSONALISATION

A name, date or short personal dedication may be added in a subtle handwritten style, thoughtfully placed to complement the original composition.

Example:

For Chris — still you. Always you.

Love, Sarah x

The wording can be adapted for a husband, wife or partner, making the piece particularly suited to an anniversary or a private gift between two people.

UNFRAMED

The print is supplied unframed. Any frames or styled settings shown in product images are for presentation only.

Colours and subtle tonal details may vary slightly between your screen and the finished Fine Art print.
