Not The Witch You Expected
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
NOT THE WITCH YOU EXPECTED
A crooked nose.
A bubbling cauldron.
A broomstick disappearing across the moon.
That is what you were expecting?
Not The Witch You Expected has a little fun with one of Halloween’s oldest characters — and politely suggests that perhaps we have been imagining witches all wrong.
The broom is still there.
The hat survived.
But the woman wearing it appears to have made a few decisions of her own.
Seated in black, one shoe already abandoned and entirely untroubled by what anyone expected her to look like, she feels less like a creature from an old fairy tale and rather more like someone who knows exactly who she is.
Perhaps that is where the real magic was all along.
Created for those who enjoy Halloween with wit, femininity and a little grown-up mischief, this piece takes the familiar witch and lets her step out of the stereotype.
No warts required.
