STILL I CHOOSE

Some stories have followed us for so long that they can begin to feel like the only version of the truth.

Surreal Mindscapes likes to play sometimes. To question familiar stories, turn them slightly on their side and see what else might be hiding there.

Still I Choose takes one of the oldest symbols of temptation and consequence and quietly shifts the emphasis.

Perhaps knowledge is not simply the loss of innocence. Perhaps seeing more clearly carries a price — but also gives us something in return: the ability to choose for ourselves.

The woman is not a passive figure in an old story. She sits with the book open before her, the apple within reach and the serpent resting across her shoulders. She has seen, read and understood — and now the decision belongs to her.

Painterly passages, graphite-inspired marks and broad areas of apparent impasto move between the figure and warm-ivory paper, while the familiar symbols remain recognisable without turning the artwork into a literal retelling.

Still I Choose is not interested in providing the answer.

It is interested in the question.

Because sometimes Surreal Mindscapes keeps the story.

And sometimes we gently argue with it.

COLOURWAY

A smaller, intimate format, with the composition and typography carefully adjusted to suit its proportions while preserving the relationship between poem and image.

SIGNATURE — 30 × 40 cm

The artwork at its intended scale. The appearance of a traditional deckled (torn) paper edge is visually reproduced within the artwork itself, while the physical print is clean-cut to fit neatly into a standard 30 × 40 cm frame.

Small differences in typography, spacing or placement may appear between formats, as each version is composed specifically for its proportions.

The visible paper texture, graphite-inspired marks, unfinished painterly passages and broad areas of apparent impasto are intentional parts of the artwork. The sculptural paint effects are reproduced within the printed image; the finished Giclée print itself remains flat.

PERSONALISATION
