There is a moment in a wedding ceremony when everything becomes very small.

After all the planning, the people, the flowers, the clothes and the months of getting there, attention suddenly comes down to two hands and one small ring.

Take Thee holds onto that moment.

The artwork focuses closely on the placing of the wedding band — a gesture that takes only seconds, yet somehow carries everything that has just been promised. The hands are rendered with intimate graphite detail, while the surrounding forms gradually give way to warm ivory, sculptural painterly texture and restrained touches of gold.

There are no faces and no wider ceremony to tell us how the day looked. Instead, the piece leaves room for the couple looking at it to remember their own version: whether the ring slipped on perfectly, needed a little persuasion, whether hands trembled, someone laughed, or for a few seconds everything else in the room simply disappeared.

Perhaps that is why this tiny part of a wedding can remain so vivid years later.
