The Shape Of Waiting

ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

THE SHAPE OF WAITING

The Shape Of Wating holds the strange, quiet space between waiting for someone and already knowing them.

The figure is turned away, keeping the moment private rather than posed. Her body becomes the centre of the composition, surrounded by broken painterly surfaces, loose graphite and fragments of warm gold that seem to form and disappear around her.

There is tenderness here, but also change. Pregnancy can feel enormous and intimate at the same time — a period in which an entirely new life is approaching while another is already beginning to shift around it.

This piece may hold particular meaning for an expectant mother, but also for a partner, parent or family member wanting to remember the months before a baby arrived — a time that can feel endless while you are living it, and remarkably brief once it has passed.

COLOURWAY

A restrained palette of warm ivory, soft stone, charcoal and muted gold, with natural skin tones bringing warmth to the centre of the composition.

AVAILABLE FORMATS

STUDIO — 21 × 30 cm

A smaller, intimate presentation of the artwork, carefully composed to retain the balance and character of the original.

SIGNATURE — 30 × 40 cm

A larger presentation allowing the graphite work, painterly transitions and textural details to become a stronger part of the finished piece.

Small differences in cropping, spacing or placement may appear between formats, as each version is composed to suit its proportions.

The visible graphite lines, painterly marks, irregular textures and softly unfinished areas are intentional parts of the artwork.
