CHOSEN EDEN

The story is familiar.

A woman.
An apple.
A serpent.

But Chosen Eden is less interested in what she was told not to choose.

Here, she appears entirely at ease with the decision.

The apple is already in her hand. The serpent rests across her shoulders without menace or persuasion, while the unmistakably modern presence of the car shifts an ancient story into a world of her own making.

There is no obvious temptation here. No moment of hesitation. No suggestion that someone else is deciding what comes next.

Instead, Chosen Eden plays with the idea that paradise does not have to be the place we are given, or the life we are expected to remain within.

Sometimes it is something we define for ourselves.

The figure, serpent and car emerge through areas of selective realism, broad painterly texture and loose graphite-inspired marks, while the surrounding city dissolves into warm-ivory space. Familiar symbols remain, but their meaning has changed.

Perhaps Eden was never simply the place she was told to stay.

Perhaps it is the life she chose for herself.
