For A Little While

ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

FOR A LITTLE WHILE

For A Little While is a quiet portrait of early fatherhood — of protection, closeness and the instinctive way a child can settle into your arms as if they were always meant to be there.

The composition focuses on one intimate, unguarded moment: a sleeping baby resting against a father’s chest, held securely within the strength and gentleness of his embrace. There is nothing performative here. The emotion comes through stillness, touch and the quiet certainty of being needed.

Soft neutral tones, graphite-inspired marks and expressive painterly texture give the artwork a calm Fine Art presence while keeping the tenderness of the moment at its centre. The contrast between the father’s protective hand, the baby’s small body and the surrounding textured surface creates a piece that feels both strong and deeply gentle.

This artwork speaks about the fleeting season when a child fits entirely within your arms — a time that feels ordinary while it is happening, yet later becomes one of the most precious memories of all.

A meaningful keepsake for a new father, partner, husband or family welcoming a baby, and a thoughtful gift for a birth, baby shower, christening, first Father’s Day or simply to honour those earliest days of connection.

A coordinating companion poem, For a Little While, is also available in the Words to Keep collection, created to sit beautifully alongside the artwork as a two-piece keepsake set.

PRODUCT DETAILS

A digital Fine Art Keepsake by Surreal Mindscapes, created through a mixed-media-inspired technique combining painterly imagery, graphite-inspired drawing and expressive texture within one carefully composed artwork.

Printed as a museum-quality Giclée Fine Art print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm — a beautifully textured, heavyweight archival paper chosen to enhance the softness of the tonal transitions, delicate detail and tactile painterly character of the piece.

COLOURWAY

This artwork is created in a restrained palette of warm ivory, soft stone, charcoal, muted taupe, natural skin tones and subtle touches of aged gold.

The neutral colourway gives the piece a quiet, timeless quality, while darker graphite-inspired passages and painterly contrasts bring depth, warmth and emotional focus to the composition.
