ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
SOMETIMES I FORGET YOU’RE GONE
Sometimes grief appears in the smallest, most ordinary moments.
Something happens and, without thinking, we want to tell them. We wonder what they would say. We almost reach for the phone — and then remember.
Sometimes I Forget You’re Gone is about that quiet kind of absence.
Not only missing someone, but discovering how deeply they remain woven into the way we think, remember and move through everyday life.
Perhaps we still talk to them sometimes. We tell them things. Ask what they think. And every now and then, we already know exactly what they would say.
The artwork places your own photograph within a simple framed portrait resting on a weathered piece of furniture — the kind of photograph that might quietly keep its place in a familiar home for years. Painterly passages, graphite-inspired marks and warm-ivory paper surround it without overwhelming the intimacy of the image.
There is sadness here, but also something comforting.
Because the people we love often become part of us in ways we only begin to recognise after they are gone.
In the things we remember. The conversations we still have with them in our thoughts. The answers we can almost hear before we have even finished the question.
And perhaps that is why, sometimes, forgetting for a moment that they are gone can feel almost like having them back.
PRODUCT DETAILS
A personalised digital Fine Art Literary Keepsake by Surreal Mindscapes, created through a mixed-media-inspired approach combining your own photograph, original poetry, painterly imagery, graphite-inspired drawing, expressive texture and restrained typography within one carefully balanced composition.
Printed as a museum-quality Giclée Fine Art print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm — a beautifully textured, heavyweight archival paper chosen to complement the warmth of the photograph, expressive painterly passages and delicate graphite-inspired detail.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPH
A personal photograph is required for this artwork.
Please provide one photograph featuring the person you would like to remember. Your photograph will be incorporated into the framed area of the composition and carefully balanced with the surrounding artwork.
A clear, good-quality photograph will usually give the best result, although older family photographs are also welcome where image quality allows.
Please ensure that the photograph is your own or that you have permission to use it.
COLOURWAY
A quiet, nostalgic palette of warm ivory, parchment, weathered stone, soft taupe, natural brown, charcoal and muted antique gold.
The restrained neutral tones allow your personal photograph to remain the emotional centre of the composition.
AVAILABLE FORMATS
STUDIO — 21 × 30 cm
A smaller, intimate format, with the composition and typography carefully adjusted to suit its proportions while preserving the relationship between photograph, poem and painterly elements.
SIGNATURE — 30 × 40 cm
The artwork at its intended scale. The appearance of a traditional deckled (torn) paper edge is visually reproduced within the artwork itself, while the physical print is clean-cut to fit neatly into a standard 30 × 40 cm frame.
Small differences in typography, spacing or placement may appear between formats, as each version is composed specifically for its proportions.
The visible paper texture, graphite-inspired marks, unfinished painterly passages and broad areas of apparent impasto are intentional parts of the artwork. The sculptural paint effects and tactile-looking surfaces are reproduced within the printed image; the finished Giclée print itself remains flat.
PERSONALISATION
In addition to your photograph, a name, date or short dedication may be added in a subtle handwritten style, thoughtfully placed to complement the original composition.
Personalisation can be kept very simple, allowing the photograph, poem and memory behind the piece to remain the focus.
UNFRAMED
The print is supplied unframed. The portrait frame shown within the artwork forms part of the composition itself. Any additional frames or styled settings shown in product images are for presentation only.
Colours and subtle tonal details may vary slightly between your screen and the finished Fine Art print.
