THE PEEK

The door is open.

Which is not quite the same as an invitation.

The Peek places us just outside a private moment — close enough to see, but not quite close enough to know whether we should.

Beyond the doorway, a woman quietly gathers her hair, seemingly unconcerned by the possibility of being seen. Perhaps she simply forgot to close the door.

Perhaps she didn't.

The composition plays with that small tension between privacy and observation. Her figure remains softly realistic while the room, doorway and surrounding surfaces break apart into broad painterly passages, graphite-inspired lines and generous warm-ivory space.

Nothing dramatic is happening.

And perhaps that is precisely why we keep looking.

We could, of course, look away.

Apparently, we haven't.
