THE WORDS WE CARRY
Some words stay with us far longer than the people who said them.
“You’re overreacting.”
“Pull yourself together.”
“Others have it worse.”
“You’re too sensitive.”
Phrases like these are often dismissed as harmless, practical or even helpful.
But words can settle deeply.
They can shape the way we see ourselves, the way we judge our own emotions and the way we learn to hide what we are actually feeling.
The Words We Carry is deliberately direct because sometimes the message does not need to be hidden inside metaphor.
Kindness matters.
Language matters.
Being heard matters.
And sometimes the most powerful thing we can say to another person is not advice, correction or comparison.
It is simply:
I understand you.
Because good words do not always fix everything.
But they can make someone feel less alone.
