THERE ARE THINGS NO ONE TEACHES

There Are Things No One Teaches is about the part of motherhood that cannot really be prepared for — the quiet knowledge that develops through loving someone.

It is not a portrait of the perfect mother. Instead, the piece considers all the small instincts that accumulate over time: noticing, remembering, listening, protecting, letting go, and creating a place to which a child can always return.

At the heart of the work is a simple idea: perhaps one of the greatest things a mother gives her child is not certainty or all the right answers, but the feeling of having somewhere in the world where they are completely known and still welcome.

The visual composition deliberately gives the words room to breathe. Fine typography and handwritten elements sit within a generous field of warm ivory, while broad, sculptural painterly masses gather around the outer edges. The centre remains quieter and almost untouched, creating a sense of shelter around the poem rather than decorating it.
