There is a brief time of year when the seasons seem to overlap.
The ivy has already turned deep red. The light has softened. Autumn is unmistakably making itself at home.
And yet the dahlias are still flowering.
When Summer Meets Autumn captures that beautiful in-between — when the garden hasn’t quite finished with summer, even as autumn begins changing everything around it.
A fading sunflower carries the last warmth of the season, while rich dahlias remain among the climbing leaves, surrounded by reds, russets and earthy greens. Behind them, the architecture gradually disappears into loose graphite, as though the rest of the world has been allowed to fall quietly away.
It is a piece for those who love the changing of the seasons rather than one season alone — that fleeting few weeks when summer and autumn briefly share the same garden.
Because perhaps autumn doesn’t arrive all at once.
