WHERE IT BEGAN
Before there was a collection, there was an idea.
An image that existed only in my imagination — two hands holding a heart, surrounded by something almost weightless, somewhere between light, energy and breath.
Where It Began was the first time I tried to bring one of those imagined worlds into view.
I did not know then what would follow. There was no collection waiting to be built, no established visual language and no plan for what Surreal Mindscapes might eventually become.
There was simply an image I wanted to see.
Looking at it now, I can recognise something that would continue through much of the work that came afterwards: emotion made physical, reality allowed to become slightly impossible, and an idea given a form that could not exist anywhere except in an imagined world.
This piece remains in the collection not because it needs to be sold, but because beginnings deserve to be remembered.
Everything that followed came later.
This is where it began.
