Wrong Side Of The Screen
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
WRONG SIDE OF THE SCREEN
She was probably supposed to stay on the other side of the screen.
And yet, here we are.
One shoe has already been lost, the television appears to have given up trying to contain her, and judging by the expression on her face, an apology seems unlikely.
Wrong Side of the Screen plays with that strange moment when something familiar becomes just slightly impossible.
There is something unsettling about her arrival, but also something unmistakably mischievous. She looks less like someone escaping from somewhere and rather more like someone who has just discovered that she can.
The old television, dark interior and polished floor emerge through heavy painterly passages, while graphite-inspired lines and unfinished edges allow the room to dissolve into warm-ivory space. Her deep red dress provides the single concentrated burst of colour against the darker, weathered surroundings.
We don't know where she came from.
We don't know why she came through.
And perhaps most importantly, we don't know what she intends to do now that she has.
She doesn't look particularly sorry about it either.
PRODUCT DETAILS
A digital Fine Art artwork by Surreal Mindscapes, created through a mixed-media-inspired approach combining painterly imagery, graphite-inspired drawing, expressive texture and selective realism within one carefully balanced composition.
Printed as a museum-quality Giclée Fine Art print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm — a beautifully textured, heavyweight archival paper chosen to complement the dark painterly passages, graphite-inspired detail and tactile-looking surface of the artwork.
COLOURWAY
A dramatic, restrained palette of warm ivory, aged cream, tobacco brown, deep umber, charcoal and black, interrupted by the rich dark red of the woman's dress.
Warm light from the vintage television provides an additional contrast, giving the composition an atmospheric, slightly uncanny glow.
AVAILABLE FORMATS
STUDIO — 21 × 30 cm
A smaller, intimate format, carefully composed to preserve the relationship between the figure, television and surrounding interior.
SIGNATURE — 30 × 40 cm
The artwork at its intended scale, with a clean-cut edge, allowing the painterly surface, graphite-inspired detail and atmospheric depth of the composition to be appreciated more fully.
Small differences in spacing or placement may appear between formats, as each version is composed specifically for its proportions.
The visible paper texture, graphite-inspired marks, unfinished painterly passages and broad areas of apparent impasto are intentional parts of the artwork. The sculptural paint effects are reproduced within the printed image; the finished Giclée print itself remains flat.
UNFRAMED
The print is supplied unframed. Any frames or styled settings shown in product images are for presentation only.
Colours and subtle tonal details may vary slightly between your screen and the finished Fine Art print.
Designed and created by Surreal Mindscapes.
